33 Saturday, August 8th, 2020 – after a long pause
Dear friends and Bad Homburg readers,
as all stressing things met in July, I was sick for two weeks. Back to office since two weeks. During longer pause I came to the decision to stop work two years before its regular termination – I call it „orderly Brexit“. New Zealand premier Jacinda Ardern had the same idea as I: Reducing working time to 30 hours a week. I will start in September, just having left daily 6 hours to work. And getting into pension next year in October. My situation is typical for a lot of elder people in their job: Polticians want us to work as long as possible into age, but we miss appreciation and adaption to our specific conditions. So some are wished to work as hard as they were just 30, and other are sitting off their time, waiting to start their real active phase of life. Naturally there are several nuances between both extremes.
Just a few days left, then I will have three weeks regular holidays: Just the longer working hours August left, real summer started last Thursday – meanwhile already some too hot – and the still existing freedom of travelling, so it´s a good time now. And of coarsen I will use my favorite transport -my bicycle.
Pandemic increasing again since two weeks – without Tönnies hotspot at Gütersloh. From around 300 new infections daily to more than 1.000 everyday. Robert-Koch-Institute writes to be seriously concerned every day – but nothing more happening. Travelers returning from „risk areas“ with high infection rates meet party people and increasing carelessness. You just can have a look at several spots at Frankfurt to see what´s going on. And some people wear masks – but below their nose, what´s as useful as fixing your dog´s leash to the tail instead to its neck.
Nearby Offenbach became a little hotspot last weekend, getting Number 2 on Robert Koch Institute´s negative list with an incidence of nearly 40 new infections within one week, meanwhile slightly getting better. Still in the „yellow area“ I canceled my open air cinema appointment and made instead a bicycle ride just the opposite direction to Oberursel – to keep to the capital letter „O“ of my destinations.
Most people keep to the rules. And developing mask fashion to express your meaning or to show, what you like, by your mask. So at Bockenheim one woman had her mask in the same color as her T-shirt, and Omi Mümchen offers „beautiful masks“ at Bad Homburg.
So long for today. Please use your brain and stay healthy!
